Schools out & results are in – now is the time to hire an Apprentice
With GCSE and A Level results released in the last 2 weeks, school and college leavers are preparing for the next stage in their education.
Apprenticeships now provide a real alternative for young people to earn whilst they learn and gain valuable workplace experience.
In the past two years, a growing number have pursued apprenticeships – in the academic year 2014-2015, the number of under 19s starting an apprenticeship increased by 5.1% on the previous year. And in 2013-2014 the number increased by 4.6%.
There are around a million apprentices in UK SME’s and there is potential to double that according to a recent report from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). Over 2.2 million apprenticeships have been created since 2010 to help grow the UK’s economy and contribute towards reaching the government’s target of 3 million apprenticeships by 2020.
There are many benefits to recruiting an apprentice as they can add more value and be easier to mould than experienced employees, according to business owners. However, employers need to be prepared to put in the time and resources to support their apprentices and realise that in the medium to longer term, they can add real value back to the business.
So this time of year is perfect to recruit talented young people into an organisation. For more information and advice on costs and return on investment please contact our team on Tel 01422 898 888 or email firstname.lastname@example.org/training
