“I am currently working on site at a huge law firm and it is great working there. I started working out on the field with a walking engineer commuting in Central London visiting different types of companies, then I moved on to becoming a mobile engineer which drives around place to place and that was a good experience. I currently work alongside a senior engineer and we work together to create efficient environment for our customer and make sure they are happy in what we provide to them.”

“I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted work experience and I didn’t just want to be taught things in a classroom that I’d never use. My favourite module was Presentation Software because I already had experience in Microsoft Software, so it was almost like I was expanding on my knowledge and learning things I maybe wouldn’t have if I hadn’t taken that module. I use excel a lot in my job so this module was really useful to me.”

“Every day I do something I love and that will benefit me in the future immensely. I am learning through doing and my job provides me with invaluable experience. I get the chance to work with hardware and software that most young people in college or university would not get the chance to. I always look forward to going to Estio in Manchester. I’m with other Apprentices who have very similar interests and ambitions, since day one I formed great friendships with other Apprentices. In addition, the quality of teaching is outstanding, it also extends outside the training centre.”

“On a daily basis individuals within my Company send any technical problems across to me, depending on how complicated the Issue it I will then forward it to second/third line support. I have been enrolled on my IT Apprenticeship for just under a month and I have just completed my first week in training. My Trainer was very enthusiastic about the Unit, which made me feel motivated to do my best.”

“On an everyday basis I help with 1st/2nd Line Support, fixing faults using the diagnosis process. I have to be confident when speaking to users to resolve problems. Network Infrastructure, learning how servers interact with each other, and how they are physically laid out in a workplace. I have chosen to do a Level 4 apprenticeship as I have enjoyed working towards my Level 3, and I believe I can further improve my knowledge and ability in the IT industry by completing my Level 4. The on the job training has developed my professionalism at work and I have also picked up new skills.”

I was considering University, but decided to get a foot on the career ladder and get some on the job experience. I can be dealing with high level projects involving directors one minute and the fixing of hardware problems the next.”
