16-18 year olds in Greater Manchester to get free bus travel

It has been announced today that young people (aged 16-18) will be able to travel by bus for free across Greater Manchester from September.

The “Our Pass” travel card for teenagers is being launched by the region’s Metro Mayor, Andy Burnham.

It is estimated that this offer will enable young people to save up to £500 in travel costs, which is a significant amount of money for those in apprenticeships. Our Pass can be used seven days a week and has no time restrictions for bus travel, as it has been designed not just to make commuting easier but also social lives too.

The bus pass will incur a one-off admin cost of £10, but following that, you will be able to ride for free until your card expires.

As well as free bus travel, Our Pass cardholders will have access to lots of opportunities, experiences and benefits.
