Job Description:

This company is looking for an Apprentice Test Automation Engineer to join the Menu Core team in Bristol and help us build a solid foundation of quality whilst developing their own skills & knowledge through a Level 4 Software Tester programme over a 2 year period.

You will learn how to plan, implement & record the results of a series of tests against our products whilst working closely with a squad of Engineers, providing guidance, tooling & processes to enhance the standards of our software.

Through this, you will become a crucial part of our drive to build the best experience for both our customers and Restaurant Partners.

As your role develops you will become involved in…

  • Helping to define test requirements from a business, functional & non-functional perspective
  • Assisting the team in the formulation of test plans & all aspects of the test pyramid
  • Organising and driving testing activities for team’s projects
  • Helping the team to improve the culture around testing, quality assurance & quality metrics in general
  • Configuring CI to provide infrastructure for fast and reliable test runs
  • Doing PR reviews for your team to ensure sufficient test coverage is in place and code quality adheres to defined quality standards
  • Ensuring the high level of the product’s functional & non-functional test coverage
  • Ad-hoc manual regression testing

 

Skills Required:

 

  • 5 GCSEs, including English & Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent
  • 2 or more A-Levels at grade C or above, or equivalent
  • Previous work experience, either part time work or from placements during education
  • An ability to work independently, take responsibility and be proactive
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with others
  • A passion for solving complex problems

Qualifications required:

  • 5 GCSEs, including English & Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent

Training to be provided:

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive six weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeship will give you a Level 4 Software Tester Standard with training in areas such as:

  • Functional skills, Maths L2 and English L2
  • Investigating and Defining Customer Requirements
  • Software Development Fundamentals
  • Software Testing Fundamentals
  • Testing Tools
  • Testing Concepts

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
