Brief job description:

Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a IT Solutions Technician with a Network solutions business based in Cheshire.

Job Description:

The role involves working with the Technical Services Team (TST) supporting customers with managed services and maintained networks using system management toolsets. The Technician’s role is to provide first line support in the TST and to ensure the continuous smooth operation of the network service for customers.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s experience in running IT services or have graduated in an element of IT from College. This post is seen as the first stage for a progression into a broader career in the installation and management of network infrastructures. It will be a required part of the role to study for and pass agreed vendor accreditation and other recognised technical certifications in order to develop the candidate’s technical capability.

 

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • To use Vivantio ITSM system to ensure calls are responded to within the Customer’s SLA and assign appropriate resources to ensure successful resolution.
  • Remotely support and identify issues affecting customer systems and services, then perform 1st line diagnosis with a view to resolution.
  • Be able to work without continuous supervision and be trusted to provide professional support services to customers.
  • To be able to self-educate and attain industry standard IT accreditations.
  • Use the internet and other sources of information to remain up to date with technical issues affecting the ICT sector.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

 

 

 

Personal Skills:

Essential

  • Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, multitasking between simultaneous projects and respond to deadlines.
  • A minimum of one years’ experience technical problem solving with computers, either in an IT role or personal projects (evidence maybe required). Ideally graduated from college/University within an IT field
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full and clean driving licence

 

Desirable

  • Experience of liaising with customers to diagnose faults over the phone
  • Be familiar with the primary functions of networking equipment, i.e. Routers, Switches, Firewalls and wide area network hardware.
  • Awareness of some of the following vendor products; Cisco, Ruckus, Fortinet. Holding a certification with these vendors would be a distinct advantage.

Training to be provided:

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive six weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated Technical Expert who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeship will give you a Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Certificate with training in areas such as:

  • BCS Security and Legislation
  • BCS Core Technologies
  • BCS Methodologies and Principles
  • Hardware or Software Option

 

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
