Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for  a 1st Line Engineer Apprentice with an independent IT specialist based in Horley, Surrey.

Job Description:

We are seeking a 1st Line IT Support Apprentice to join our successful, reputable, dynamic and innovative Company. This role is for an experienced Technical Engineer who has good experience with Desktop support, Network Support, Troubleshooting and hands on support. You will be confident, pro-active and have excellent communication skills and thoroughly enjoy IT support and working within an IT environment. Working as part of our dynamic sales & technical team, the company offers a wide variety of products, services & solutions and have been supplying innovative IT Solutions since 1994.

The company is widely recognised as an outstanding provider of end-to end IT Hardware, Software, Maintenance and Support, and is committed to delivering the very best products and solutions & service available. The role will require the successful candidate to regularly work from client sites in and around London and the Home Counties, as well as both the companies’ offices in Horley & London.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • To provide technical support; answering support queries either onsite or via phone or email
  • Log all calls on the call logging system and maintain full documentation
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles
  • Take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues

  • Respond to enquiries from clients and help them resolve any hardware or software problems
  • Maintain a log of any software or hardware problems detected
  • Support users in the use of Computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice
  • Allocate more complex service issues to the relevant IT Support member
  • Arrange for external technical support where problems cannot be resolved in house
  • You will be undertaking training and initiatives to ensure a high level of technical knowledge is maintained.
  • You will self-manage your time whilst focusing on the on-going support of client’s systems.
  • Knowledge of XP/Win7/8/10 and all Microsoft Office applications
  • Desktop/Laptop & network printer troubleshooting experience
  • Hardware upgrades on desktops and laptops

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

  • Excellent telephone manner and face to face communication skills
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration
  • Looking for a career in IT

Training to be provided:

The Estio Training programme gives young people the opportunity to get hands on experience in the IT industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.

Learners will receive eight weeks of intensive training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated Skills Development Coach who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeship will give you a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Standard with training in areas such as:

  • Functional skills, Maths L2 and English L2
  • PC Fundamentals
  • Business Processes & Customer Services
  • Networking & Architecture
  • Mobile & Operating Systems
  • Cloud Services
  • Coding & Logic

 

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.
